Joe McNamara becomes the 24th verbal to the Wisconsin Badgers. McNamara will be a project at Defensive Tackle as he has played very little of the position, but he has ideal size and plays with a mean streak. McNamara who is 6'2 and around 280lbs right now, was formerly committed to Stanford before his knee injury. He chose Wisconsin over FAU, FIU and Marshal.
:Also of note:
-Rashad Frazier is in the process of deciding between Wisconsin, West Virgina, and to a lesser extent MSU.
-Earnest Thomas did not visit and id expect a verbal to Illinois soon.
-Marcus Trotter liked his visit to Wofford, and is going to choose either a full ride there, a Greyshirt offer from UW, or a preferred walk-on offer from Minnesota.

YouTube - Austin Harrington highlight film 6'0...
Harrington ready to explode onto the scene
With the likes of Seantrel Henderson and Wisconsin-bound Beau Allen dominating the football recruiting headlines in the state of Minnesota, it’s easy to see how other talented prospects could get lost in the shuffle. Such is the case with Minnetonka High School’s talented receiver Austin Harrington, but he’s out to change all of that.
“I broke my ankle in week six last year, so obviously, I’m at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to recruiting,” said Harrington.
A 6’0”, 185-pound receiver with exceptional balance and hands, Harrington profiles as a slot receiver at the collegiate level and says that suits him just fine.
“I love playing the slot. I’m able to get the ball in open space and make some guys miss. That’s one of the things that I really pride myself on,” added Harrington.
Harrington says he looks up to a pair of the National Football League’s top slot receivers when trying to mold and pattern his game.
“I love Austin Collie from the Colts. I’ve always liked BYU, and Collie’s from BYU. It’s not just that, though. His routes are incredibly precise and he’s got good hands. I think we have a very similar playing style.”
“I also really like Wes Welker. He’s probably the best slot receiver in the NFL. I watch him a lot just to see his routes, his open-field moves and his quickness. That’s another guy that I try to play like.”
Despite living in the heart of Big 10 country, Harrington proclaims an affinity for a different conference.
“I really like the WAC (Western Athletic Conference). It’s a very fun conference to watch. It seems like they’re always throwing the ball and getting their playmakers in space. Plus, I’d prefer to play in a spread offense and there are quite a few of those in the WAC.”
Harrington likes the WAC, but more importantly, really likes one particular school.
“BYU’s definitely my favorite,” he explains. “I work on my game with coach named Roger French, and he coached there for over 20 years, so he’s really turned me on to BYU. I also like the Idaho Vandals, Boise State, and a couple of teams from the Big 10 like Wisconsin and Iowa.”
Despite hailing from Minnesota, Harrington admits he’s not a huge Golden Gopher fan.
“I don’t think Minnesota’s for me. I went to their campus and didn’t really enjoy myself, so I don’t think I could see myself at Minnesota.”
“I did, however, go to a camp at North Dakota State University and I was named one of the top three receivers there, so hopefully camps like that can help me raise my recruiting profile,” explained Harrington.
In order to play Division I college football, Harrington understands that he will have to be a student-athlete, not an athlete-student, and that’s a fact that’s not lost on him.
“I have around a 2.6 GPA right now. It’s not great, but I’ve improved a bit. I struggled a bit during my freshman year. I basically thought that I could just get by since I was so focused on football. I realize that that’s not the case, though, so I’m really looking to raise my GPA. I’m also taking my ACT at the end of February.
Harrington, who is expected to be a captain for Minnetonka next season, expects bigger things from himself for his senior season. While he put up 277 yards on 15 catches for a stellar 18.46 yards per catch average in addition to one touchdown, he thinks that he will be able to make a bigger impact in his final season.
“Well, I’m trying to bug the coaches into throwing the ball a little bit more next year,” he says with a laugh. “We ran the ball around 73 percent of the time last year, so I think we can achieve a little bit better balance next year and get our playmakers out in space where they can make big plays.”
Finally, Harrington knows that he’s not a complete player yet and that like all top players, he still has things to work on to become even better.
“I’m really working on my speed and explosiveness right now. I ran a 4.76 40-yard dash last year and I think I can lower that into the 4.5-range with some training. I’m working out about four times per week now. I’ve also really worked on my blocking, though it could be better. I work on things like that all the time with Coach John Croyle. He’s an exceptional coach whom I think should be coaching at a higher level, so we’re really fortunate to have him. I always work on my balance and hands, but I think that if I add a little bit of quickness and speed, it will really help my game.”

2010 Madison East quarterback will be joining teammate Marquis Mason at the University of Wisconsin. Mcadams was the quarterback for Madison East and recorded 2570yds 27 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his senior season. Mcadams stands at 6'1 and 185lbs.
Jason Hengel from La Crosse, Wisconsin is being recruited as a fullback. Has ideal size at 6'2 220lbs, and considering that UW likes to use walk-ons in the fullback spot you would expect that he is a very good prospect at the spot.
Ben Ruechel is from Oconto, Wisconsin and played both QB and Linebacker for the Blue Devils. Was first team all conference at both spots, and is being recruited to Wisconsin as a linebacker. Ruechel is also a very decorated wrestler finishing fourth at the division 2 state championship at 189 last year.

Anyone who followed Beau Allen closely probably knows that he wasn't the only D1 prospect on Minnetonka. I recently talked with James Farrow, their Junior cornerback, about his recruitment.
I updated his measureables per our conversation.
HS: So do you play any other sports besides football?
JF: I run track. I was our varsity 100m guy and I anchored the varsity 4x1 my sophomore year. I plan on making it to state in both events this up coming season.
HS: Is that 10.9 in the 100 accurate? And how are things going in the classroom?
JF: That's accurate, but i feel alot more exsplosive so i hope to see that number drop this year. As far as the classroom i finished the fall semester at around a 2.7 GPA. Minnetonka is a tough schools so i have to stay on top of things. I take the ACT in April, I'm taking prep classes for the ACT and hope to do well, Im aiming for the 22-28 range.
HS: Now to football - do you have any stats from last year?
JF: I had around 40 solo tackles, 3 picks, 1 forced fumble as well as 2 recovered fumbles on defense. I had 4 receptions for 116 yards and a TD, and 3 return TDs. I averaged 46 yards per kick return and 15 per punt return. 620 all-purpose yards.
HS: What is it like being coached by Ben Strickland?
JF: Ben is probably the most detail-oriented coach that I've had. I really look up to him as a coach, a player and most importantly as a man. He preaches the fundamentals but gets down to the little things too. The thing he preaches most is hard work. I stay in touch with him once or twice a week, and he ends every call telling me to outwork the other guys.
HS: How is it playing with Beau? Does he give you any recruiting tips?
JF: He's Beau Allen haha. Lets just say having him up front took a lot of pressure off of the rest of us. For recruiting, our situations are a little different seeing as he had an offer from Minnesota after his freshman year. One thing he always tells me is to focus on football during football season, live in the moment, worry about recruiting during the off-season. I think that helps keep things in perspective. Im exited he is going to UW though, they are definately at the top of my list, probably the 1 or 2 spot along with Minnesota.
HS: So do you have any favorites at this time?
JF: I like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio State and Iowa right now. My Dad went to Minnesota, so I'm feeling some pressure there, but he always tells me to go where i fit best. I just visited the Gophers last week for Junior recruit Day, along with 13 other recruits. I had a good time. The basketball team ended up losing but it was a good game. I plan on camping hard this summer, definitely making it out to the Wisconsin 1 day as well as the Minnesota 1 day.

CORRECTION: Joe McNamara does not have an offer.
Bruce Gaston chose Purdue over UW, Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Boston College. Subsequently former Stanford commit Joe McNamara (Weston, Florida) Is going to be on campus this weekend
Former UCLA commit Earnest Thomas III, had an in home visit with Dave Doren tonight, and is scheduled for his official this coming weekend (30th). Thomas has offers from Mizzou, Louisville, Penn State, and Stanford, and Minnesota...(To go along with a few other high D-1 offers)
New name on the badger board Rashard Frazier from Middleton, Ohio. Will also be visiting this weekend. Frazier has offers from Michigan State, West Virgina, and Wisconsin.
In basketball news top prospect Marshall Plumlee (Mason and Miles brother) was listed as having Wisconsin, Michigan, and Virgina as "high interest" (FWIW).

Ninneman who hails from Oregon, Wisconsin has accepted a preferred walk on roll with the Badgers. Ninneman is being recruited as a DT and is about 6'3 and weighs about 260. He expects a redshirt and is looking forward to getting into Ben Herbert's S & C program. Ninneman had an offer from Army, Minnesota Duluth, Upper Iowa, Bemidji Augustana, and preferred walk on offer from Minnesota.

If you live in Wisconsin and you think of the 2012 class you obviously know names such as JP Tokoto and Junior Lomomba. The players you dont know maybe the ones who will make the 2012 class as potent a class seen in Wisconsin in sometime. The main headliners are always going to be Junior Lomomba of Madison Memorial and Jean-Pierre Tokoto of Menominee falls. With all due respects to every other player in this class they should be...Everyone knows about Tokoto who has received major interest from national powers Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas. Along with instate powers Wisconsin and Marquette. Lomomba has been a name that has popped up on recruiting radars during last years state title run for Madison Memorial. Junior has been injured for the majority of the year, but he is still ranked as the 2nd best player in 2012 by Mark Miller. Everything ive heard about the kids work ethic leaves little doubt in my mind he will continue to develop, and will not end up in the same position that Flavien Davis was in.
As for the rest of the class im going to start with the Milwaukee kids. Note im not going to list Tokoto/Lomomba.
-Arroyo Edwards-Milwaukee King
-Phillip Nolan-Milwaukee Vincent
-Otis Pirtle-Bradley Tech
-Darrell Bowie-Wauwatosa West
Arroyo Edwards quote on quote looks the part of an high major D1 prospect already. Stands at about 6'4 and is a tremendous athlete and defender. Including shutting down consensus top prospect JP Tokoto in Kings match up with Menominee falls holding him to a season low 10 points. Edwards offensive game is still a work in progress, but he just recently made the switch from forward to point guard over the summer, and im not sure about how much he has played at point this year, but I would imagine UW is recruiting him as a wing.
Phillip Nolan is very tall at 6'11ish, but he is as thin as a rail right now. Unlike most big men though Nolan has very good coordination already. He needs to add serious weight, and work on his offensive game in a big way, but his combination of size, athleticism, coordination, and upside make him too much of an intriguing prospect not to put on this list of players to watch. UWOLE also commented on his freethrow shooting stroke looked very good, but he hardly ever takes a shot that isnt within 5 feet of the basket. Post note-Nolan is not Vincents top prospect as freshmen Deonte Burton is making huge noise (look for an update on him soon).
Otis Pirtle formerly played for Milwaukee Pulask, but recently transferred to Bradley Tech. He like most players is still raw and has troubles with his decision making and shooting, but he brings alot to the floor at other aspects of the game. He is a very good athlete who is a lockdown type defender very unselfish player. Basing off reports ive seen he was finishing up the AAU season on an strong note. I have not heard how he has been playing this season, but he may be sitting out, because of the transfer rule.
Darrell Bowie stands at 6'6ish, and is a player who is impressing so far this season including a great duel with JP Tokoto a week or so back. Bowie has been a consistent force on offense, and seems to be very well put together as a player on both sides.
Now for the players outside of Milwaukee.
-Jamar "Popcorn" Morris-Madison Memorial
-Nick Arenz-Onlaska
-Wally Ellenson-Rice Lake
Morris is a player that so far for a senior dominated Memorial team has been mostly doing the dirty work as Lomomba has been out, and haveing Tre Creamer and Van Blue at guard. Ive seen nothing, but good things about morris heard he is a great shooter, but ive also heard that he is more of a power forward right now. He is a guy who we will have to watch as he develops and is allowed to become more involved in the offense. He is a player I could see blowing up once Blue/Creamer and the other Memorial players leave.
Nick Arenz, hard worker who is a solid 6'8 and still growing. Was a major reason for Onlaska's playoff run as a freshmen last year averaging 13 a game. He has a tremendous work ethic and is a player to watch for just because you know every single practice he is going to improve, and im excited to see how he continues to develop.
Wally Ellenson is a guy who ive been hearing about since the beginning of his freshmen year. He is a wing player at around 6'3 or 6'4. Who has already racked up offers from UW-Milwaukee, UW-Greenbay, and Saint Louis. Also at a track meat last year broke his dads school record high jump as he recorded a 6'7. I cant find much about him as a player, but those offers lead me to believe he is going to be a high major player if he continues to improve.

One of the final prospects left on the Badger board is Illinois Defensive Tackle Bruce Gaston. Gaston right now is IMO leaning towards one of three schools. Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Purdue however a new team has emerged as a possible destination and that is Penn State. Now do I think he ends up at PSU? No, but it is a very interesting as this was an very late offer for Joe Pa especially considering Gaston has had a top 8 for a good 4 months now.
Gaston's decision is supposed to come on Tuesday after he returns from his trip to Boston College. Right now to me it looks like he has MSU at the top, but I really wouldnt be surprised with either Purdue or Wisconsin. Purdue has been a constant in his recruitment, and he has always spoken highly of them. However I cant see him going to Purdue over offers from the likes of Wisconsin and Notre Dame. MSU is not a top-tier team in the conference, but they are a team who is making a giant splash in recruiting right now lead by a top recruiting class last year. The question about MSU is are they just going to fizzle out like the Minnesota and Illinois fad? Or are they going to become perennial contenders?
My Prediction-Wisconsin-No real reason just a feeling.

The Wisconsin Badgers have extended their third known offer to a 2011 running back. The newest offer is held by Justice Hayes of Grand Blanc high school in Michigan. Hayes stands at 5'10 and weighs in at 175lbs. He is more of a scat back mold, and shows an impressive burst and straight line speed. Although I have seen very little of his film I am very impressed with his abilitys on the field.
He currently has offers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Cincinnati.
The other two known Running back offers are held by Melvin Gordon of Kenosha Bradford in Wisconsin, and Jameel Poteat of Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
Markus Crider
Currently the Wisconsin Badgers have two commits for the 2011 recruiting class. Devon Hodges who committed last year, and George Marshall who just committed yesterday (1/19/10). As far as im aware there are three more offers out at this time. One to Markus Crider a versatile wing player from Dayton Ohio. Chasson Randle from Rockport Illinois who is considered one of the top players in the nation. Traevon Jackson who is a combo guard from Ohio, and son of former NBA player Jim Jackson. An interesting player who has not officially received an offer is Sam Thompson from Whitney Young highschool in Chicago.
Devon Hodges was originally from Romeoville High school in Illinois, however he recently transferred to rival Bolingbrook. Hodges stands at around 6'8 inches tall and weighs in at about 200lbs. Its expected that he will play a role similar to that of Marcus Landry who many Badger fans remember as a tenacious re bounder and defender who by his senior year was able to complete his all around game making it into the NBA. Hodges is not a main offensive focus on the Bolingbrook team, but is a key contributor with his athleticism and size and has reportedly been living off the glass and putbacks off offensive rebounding.
George Marshall attends one of the few selective enrollment schools in public district Chicago. At Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory the school requires that students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and a diverse extracurricular program. As a prospects many comparisons have been made to that of Jordan Taylor with a better mid-range game. Marshall has made a reputation as a clutch player and recently made the game winning lay-up in a NY2LA sponsored tournament. May lack the ideal size that Wisconsin has become known for at the point guard position, but more then makes up for it with his court awarness and defensive presence. He is the definition of true point guard, and will make Badger fans very happy, because of his impeccable work ethic.
Chasson Randle is a combo guard from Rocksport Illinois, and is considered one of the top guard prospects in the nation. He has offers from the likes of Illinois, Connecticut, Purdue, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. At one point the hopes of Landing Randle were extremely low, but I have a renewed confidence. Why? I cant tell you, but I have one of these feelings that it comes down to Illinois, Purdue, and Wisconsin. Randle is 6'3 and has the game of a point guard, but the mentality of a shooting guard. He is known for consistently attacking the basket, and an ever improving jump shot to go with his already advanced skill set.
Markus Crider is a 6'7 wing player from Dayton Ohio. He is a tremendous athlete and has an advanced set of skills. He is a very good ball handler for his size, and is said to be unstoppable when his mind is into the game. Now that is a bit of a scary though, but im positive Bo would not offer him unless that was not a major problem so little to worry about there. The prospect of landing Crider is in very good standing as he has appeared many times at the Kohl Center, and has always held UW in very high regards. Crider is a player that I cant say I remember having at UW in recent years. He is very athletic and has an advanced skill set, and has ideal size for a wing.
The final offer Wisconsin has out in the class is to the son of former NBA and Ohio State player Jim Jackson, Traevon. Jackson is very similar to Chasson Randle, but is not quite the athlete that Randle is. Both have a very similar skill set, but Jackson is a better shooter then Randle at this point, but Randle is still more advanced at the other skills.
UW is expected to take 4 scholarship players in the 2011 class with two spots currently filled.
PG-George Marshall
CG-Chasson Randle/Traevon Jackson
Forward-Devon Hodges & Markus Crider
This would be the ideal class for UW. However things can still change, and much is left to be decided.
The Wisconsin Badgers mens basketball team added a new floor general. 6'0 180lb point guard George Marshall out of Brooks College prep in chicago. Marshall checks in as the number 24 point guard in the nation according to rivals.com and the 112th best overall player.
Marshall joins fellow Illinois native Devon Hodges as the Badgers only two commits for 2011. Its expected that there are 4 spots open for the 2011 class. With Rockport Illinois star Chason Randle, Markus Crider of Dayton Ohio, and son of former Buckeye great Jimmy Jackson Traevon Jackson from Westerville Ohio all holding offers...Sam Thompson of Whitney Young highschool in Chicago and Josh Oglesby of Cedar Rapids Iowa receiving interest.
